Ep# 088: [Pep Talk] Know Your Bullet

know your bullet to grow your business

I want to talk to you about something that I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. A concept that I’m going to call “Know Your Bullet”. When you’re stepping into leadership and you want to go to the next level, you have to know your bullet.

There is an unbelievable story about President Roosevelt that I just love: he was preparing to deliver a speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he was shot in the abdomen by someone trying to assassinate him. As they were getting ready to take him to the hospital, he looked at them like they were nuts! Like, “Why would I go to the hospital? I have a speech to deliver!” So they patch him up and he delivers a one-hour speech!! Because that was his commitment. Even though circumstances made it a lot harder for him to do what he showed up to do, he still did it.

I’m not saying we don’t all have to take a minute sometimes. Life throws us curveballs. But sometimes, we don’t show up for what we said we would show up for because we have our own bullet, something that we give more power than it deserves.

It might be difficult, it might hurt, but in order to step into your next level, you have to identify your bullets and figure out how you are going to move past them. What’s your game plan? How are you going to reroute? How are you going to face the struggle and still continue to show up for your dream?

No one said this was going to be easy, but trust me when I tell you: it is so worth it. You’ve got this.
