Ep# 129: How To Go Viral + Think Critically with Comedian Bobby Sausalito

One thing I always want to do on this show is bring on people with different perspectives, experiences, and businesses. So today we get the hysterical take from Bobby Sausalito!

Bobby Sausalito

Bobby Sausalito is a Comedian, commentator and Internet personality. He is a self-proclaimed "loud mouthed New England guido" living in South Florida and making comedy videos about politics, the economy, current events, real estate, roasting, travel and dubious observations.

Listen, if you’re easily triggered, I’ll look forward to your Karen complaint email, but if you have a sense of humor and a hunger for truth and critical thinking, Bobby is your homeboy!

I’ve spent many hours in fits of laughter from Bobby’s content. Bobby shares his story of going viral - how he did it, and how he’s growing his brand from scratch! If you don’t already, check him out on instagram @takenaps.

You’re going to love today’s episode with the guy I’m proud to have in my sphere of influence and friendship, Bobby - BIG BLUE - Sausalito!

In this episode, we chat about:

Being a Critical Thinker

What Everyone Says to be True Isn’t Always the Truth

#1 We don’t know what’s true. We’re all human, we all have our perspectives, and two things can be true at the same time.

#2 Nobody has a better understanding of your reality than you do.

#3 You have to question every single piece of information that comes across your brain.

Handling Disagreements as an Adult

One of the most challenging things you’ll ever go through in your life is having to humbly coexist with people who have very different beliefs than you.

The objective of life is the ability to evolve. How can you be the highest version of yourself?

  • Be open minded

  • Be willing to learn and have hard conversations

  • Admit when you’re wrong

Going Viral

Bobby started talking about these egregious political rules, and then added in ‘quarantine rules’ as they came up.

After his first viral post, he has been receiving hundreds of DMs per day from his followers asking for more.

He isn’t just spit-balling nothing. He is researching and watching entire news conferences and then breaking it down. He consumes 3-4 hours per day of content before he makes his videos.

Bobby has grown from 1,600 followers on August 20th to 16,000 followers on October 8th!

Be a Student of Your Audience

Stop asking how your content can benefit you. How can you provide true value to your audience?

Listen to what your audience is asking for. Respond to requests.

Bobby reads and responds to every single comment and DM. He looks at every single reshare of his posts.

You don’t have to be a genius to grow a successful business, you just have to be aware and responsive.

Organic Marketing is King

When you can provide content that your audience is literally refreshing your page and waiting for, you build roots so deep that even when the algorithm changes and new people come onto the scene, you aren’t going anywhere! You have roots and substance.

Overcoming Obstacles

Having your back up against the wall causes you to be resourceful. 20% of your efforts will net 80% of your profits. Get rid of the efforts that aren’t moving your forward.

“Life happens for us, not to us.” - Tony Robbins. The obstacles that we have can ultimately become the catalyst for our success if we are willing to do the work.

It is at the moments when you are at your lowest that you have the biggest opportunity to rise expediently.

You don’t have to take ownership of what has happened to you, but you do have to take ownership of how you move forward from that.

Polarizing Topics

If you aren’t getting any dissent, you aren’t saying anything of real value.

When people come at you on attack mode, that’s on them. People love to take their own negative feelings and project them onto others. There’s an element of control when we can make others feel bad about themselves and their beliefs.

You get to control how you respond. Do you let them stop you and bring you down, or can you continue to move on and push your own beliefs?

You would be doing a disservice to yourself if you let the trolls stop you.
