Ep# 143: Rejecting the Hustle + Building an Aligned Business with Heather Chauvin

There are so many nuggets of gold you are going to just eat up in today’s episode with Heather Chauvin.

Heather Chauvin

Heather brings so much life to the table, maybe because she’s been on the brink of losing that life.

I wanted to get Heather on the show to share not just the wisdom she has gained through a cancer diagnosis, motherhood, and building a business, but also because Heather embodies what it means to be a true leader.

Heather does an incredible job of reminding us that no matter the role we find ourselves in, we all have an opportunity to step up to the challenge of being a leader.

You are going to glean so much insight from this episode!

In this episode, we chat about:

Recovering from Hustle Culture

Heather built her business on the back of hustle. She neglected her own needs to build her business, something that is all too common in the online business world. Her wake up call came in the form of a cancer diagnosis.

Heather made a pivot into putting her health first. Trust yourself, advocate for yourself.

Pivoting Your Business to Bring More Joy into Your Life

How do you want to feel?

We live in a culture that doesn’t value feelings. But knowing how you want to feel in your everyday life is pivotal in building a business and life that you love.

Delete energy vampires -- people and things who make you feel ways that you don’t want to feel.

Sometimes we have to be gritty. We may have to grind momentarily and do things that we don’t love for a period of time, but we can create an energy around these things that does serve us.

The Importance of Inner Leadership

Inner Leadership is simply listening and course correcting.

The desires you feel to make a big impact, to travel the world, to make money… these desires are in you for a reason. If you ignore these desires, you are always going to feel like you are falling short of the life you want to live.

As you continue to grow and scale up, you need to continue to honor how you feel during every step of the journey, not setting goals for “when” (“I will be happy when…”).

Always realign with yourself first, and then take action.

Building an Aligned Business

Start by thinking about this: How has this pandemic affected you?

Did it give you permission to slow down and you really enjoyed that? Or did it cause you to lose all of your business and you're stressed and scrambling?

How can you make changes in your business to cater to your needs at this moment in time?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you want to see changes in your business, you are going to have to do things differently.

You have to do the work to continually make yourself better. Remember that like attracts like. How you show up is who you will attract. If you show up inauthentically, you won’t attract the right audience.

Recognize your triggers and dissect them. Why are they setting you off? How can you learn and grow from this?
