Ep# 147: Planning for Growth in the New Year
Somehow this year was both insanely quick and painfully slow at the same time.

Today, we’re getting clear on our game plan to close out this year strong and elevate in the next. We’ll do a little Q1 planning strategy and get focused on our direction.
Assuming you want the next year of your life to be an upgrade from the last one, there is a lot of planning and purposeful action that goes into that. It’s not a guarantee just from time passing and you continuing to hustle.
So get out a notebook and get ready to do some planning to kick off your next year strong!

Evaluate Where You’re at Today
What is going well in your business? What do you love?
What is not going well? What do you want less of? What caused you major stress, sucked out your joy, felt out of alignment?
Know your numbers:
How much did you bring in for total revenue this year?
How much went back out? (overhead, paying your people, paid ads, business expenses)
How much did you actually bring home?
Evaluate your offers.
Which performed best?
Which didn’t perform well?
What support did you have in place?
Look Ahead to the Future
After you have an idea of what you want more or less of, and think in terms of your quality of life, not just vanity metrics, now you can start to get specific about your future goals.
Profit goals: Don’t only focus on revenue. Think profit.
Impact goals: Do you have a vision for the amount of people you want to reach or serve through your work? What does that look like? How many clients do you want to land? How can you reach more people through other avenues?
Skill development: What skills are you looking to hone as you go into the next year? This could be something business-specific like marketing or copywriting, or this could be more about your personal growth, like communication or leadership. Think about what you said you wanted more of in your life… What skills do you need to be able to achieve that?
Lifestyle/personal goals: Do you want more time in your schedule to be with family? Do you want to get out of the grind and into your zone of genius more often? Do you want to travel, have more in your savings, pay off debt?
You have to be willing to pay your dues to work towards these goals you set.
Break it Down
From the exercise above, choose the 3 goals that are the most important to you for this upcoming year.
Put them in order of importance.
Then break down what stands between you today and you hitting that goal.
Is it a skill?
Is it a hire?
Is it a set of tasks?
List up to 5 things for each goal that need to happen in order to get there.
