Ep# 171: How to Leverage Pinterest Ads to 10x Your Email List with Presh Rodgers
Today we are talking all things Pinterest with the Pinterest Ads Specialist, Precious Rodgers, AKAK the Pinterest Bad Ass for short. It was such a joy to have her on the show, and she knows her stuff. Presh is the go-to girl for Pinterest.
You’re going to love this episode! It’s basically a Pinterest 101 crash course. If you aren’t doing these things yet, these are all really tangible, actionable steps that you can implement into your business now. Or, you can outsource it ;)
Let’s get to the show!
In this episode, we chat about:
Why Pinterest ads?
Pinterest is a Top of Funnel strategy, meaning it's a great tool for introducing more people to you and your business. Even if it’s a cold audience that doesn’t know you at all yet, they are still warmed up to your offer because they were literally searching for it.
Pinterest ads are usually easier to set up than Facebook ads because it’s not about the copy, it’s about the keywords you use and how you optimize your audience.
Pinterest is about putting things in front of your audience that they are searching for.
Where should we start?
Pinterest has social aspects, but it’s not social media, so the rules are different.
The best way to start is to get a business account and install your Pinterest tag! Then start thinking about your strategy off the platform. What are you going to do with the traffic once you get it? Is your email nurture sequence set? Is your landing page set up for a cold audience?
Start with a consideration campaign.
What are the key components to a successful Ad pin that ultimately leads into a funnel?
Make sure that your pin itself is optimized so that it sticks out from the competition
Include a Call to Action on your pin image itself
Understand your ultimate goal: join your email list? Purchase something from you?
The headline on your landing page should immediately speak to your audience’s problem
Organic vs. Paid
Pinterest is a slow burn either way.
When it comes to organic, it can take 3-6 months to start seeing results. When it comes to paid ads, it can take anywhere from 1 week - 1 month to start seeing results.
Pinterest Ads are going to help you with your organic strategy because you’ll be able to see which words people are actually using to find your content. If you use multiple images, you’ll be able to see which type of image is performing best.
Ad Spend on Pinterest
It depends on the goal.
If you’re just getting started and are playing around, you can start with $5/day and see what happens. Presh recommends building up to at least a $20/day budget to make sure that your pin is getting in front of enough people that Pinterest can truly optimize for them and you’ll start to see the magic.
$20/day is scary, but you have to be willing to put yourself out there! On average, the cost per action on Pinterest is much lower than Facebook.
The Biggest Mistakes that Presh sees on Pinterest
Just jumping in without making a plan and thinking about their audience first
Thinking they need to recreate the wheel and getting overwhelmed with content creation
