Episode #006: Scaling Up in 2019 – Prosper in wealth, health & happiness long-term!

We’re getting REAL in this episode! Isn’t it frustrating to come into a New Year or new season of life excited for growth & change only to have life happen and fall short? I can’t tell you how many resolutions I’ve set that I haven’t lived up to. Actually… Can you think of one you rocked for a whole year? Cuz I can’t!

This episode gives you the tools & perspective you need to CRUSH the next year of your life AND the good news is that we’ve simplified things to help you feel empowered and on top of your goals & vision for your life!

And the good news is that WE’RE SIMPLIFYING THINGS to help you feel empowered and on top of your goals and vision for your life.

But here’s the gig – I said we were going to get real, 1st, right? Let’s get that part out of the way…

If you don’t want to repeat history, you have to change the present.


First things first – in order to do the things you want to do, live the way you want to live, accomplish the things you want to accomplish – you have to become the person that is capable and deserving of those things.

When I first started mentoring people I would talk to them about their goals, vision for their future, what they wanted, and I played the role of their cheerleader.

-I believe in you

-You DESERVE all of those things

Everyone got a trophy


But as time went on, I realized I was actually doing my clients and students a massive disservice by telling them they were completely deserving of something they weren’t willing to work for or work through to get there.


EXTREME OWNERSHIP

Right at the right time, someone recommended the book Extreme Ownership, written by two Navy Seals


You guys – THIS IS OUR LIFE ON THE LINE. Imagine if you go into another year setting new goals and new resolutions and don’t take the time to do things differently this time? Imagine if you, instead, took 100% ownership of each day, each struggle, each burden, each challenge and you SHOWED UP for all of it. You turned that finger that has only ever pointed outward and turned it in toward yourself and put some fight back into your life?


Is it really impossible, or is it just really freaking hard?


Will you take OWNERSHIP of the next 365 days with me? And remember, this is a practice. We have to PRACTICE this. This isn’t just a way of thinking, it’s a way of LIVING.

If you’re not where you want to be financially, personally, in your marriage, with your kids, with your health, in your business or in terms of your dreams – it’s time to start living each day asking what active role you can play in your life to change it. ACTIVE. No more living passively. No more casually setting goals and resolutions. You are fire. Act like it.


SETTING YOUR GOALS, VISION, INTENTIONS FOR THE NEXT YEAR

Don’t choose something that’s not worth fighting for. I call that the expectation pit, and you’ll fall face first into it if you’re excited by the goal or shiny object but not the road you’ll be on to get there.

Are you choosing your goals with intention and an understanding that what you want will require EFFORT? There are a few tools and tactics I’m going to recommend to help you do this… it’s what I do to close out each year and start the next one, and I re-evaluate this process at the start of each quarter because I’m human and I don’t always get this right and need to course correct.

  1. Vision board

  2. Big 3

  3. One single planner

  4. 90 day rolling calendar

  5. Priority list

  6. Routine

These are strategic ways of approaching and planning for what you want to achieve, accomplish or breathe life into.

This is going to be your circuit board to plan out all things wealth, health and happiness. It’s where you operate the activities and set the focus so you know what falls on your calendar and what doesn’t.

If it doesn’t align with this year’s vision, it doesn’t make the cut.


This is the year you become a doer!


WEALTH


We all want to be more financially prosperous, right? But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about money is that a lot of it is mental.


I used to live with a scarcity mindset when it came to money. But what I’ve experienced over the last handful of years is that the more you give, the more you get back. And that goes for both money and your gifts.

Leading with a servant’s heart in whatever you do will always lead to more abundance.


So what tangible things can you do this year to be more in control of your finances?

HEALTH


Let’s start with this – if you don’t make a conscious choice now to give your health a top slot on your priority list, you can rest assured that this will be another year that passes you by when it comes to anything from losing weight, to gaining confidence to having energy. Period.

Most of us fall short in one or both of two areas:

  1. We don’t prioritize our health, so we don’t plan for it. We set a goal, get excited about it and fizzle out because we really have no clue what we are doing or what to do next

  2. We don’t actually believe we can get the end result we originally got excited for because we’ve failed in the past, someone told us we can’t

  3. It’s hard and doesn’t happen overnight, so we quit

HAPPINESS

It’s funny how I’m going to start the happiness portion of this by saying something that’s like to tick a lot of people off… and I know, because it won’t be the 1st time I’ve said it and it won’t be the 1st time I get messages from people who are annoyed I did.

Happiness is a choice.


The good news is that in doing what we’ve already talked about so far in this episode you’ll be opening the door a little wider and making it easier to choose happiness.


You can actually EARN and CREATE your own fulfillment, no matter your situation.


When I’m folding laundry or meal prepping, I’ve created a practice I call Joyful Doing. I’m still working my way through a list of crap I might not love, but before I start I do 3 things…

  1. I remember the intention behind it (what it’s for, what purpose it ultimately serves)

  2. I offer up the time short time of doing for someone going through something more trying than me

  3. I crank the music or put on a podcast and DO

Remember, it’s also tough to be happy and fulfilled when you’re not in a state of growth. So in looking at your truth – what you’re doing and what you’re choosing not to do – are you focused on areas of growth?

We are happiest when we are learning, expanding, trying new things, and working towards the next level.
