Episode #007: Delegate or Drown: How to build your team from the ground up!

This mini-series is perfect for the person ready to take their business (and income) to the next level! Whether you’re just getting things out of the gate or you’ve been a successful one man show, today is the day that I share why it’s so important to start delegating and hiring!

This was one of the toughest things for me to do as a business owner - relinquish control, spend money when I didn’t feel like I had it to spend and give up things I knew I was fully capable of doing myself. But once you cross that threshold into delegation and teamwork, you multiply yourself, your abilities and your income.

In this episode we’re focusing on laying the groundwork and actually building the team. In Part II we will focus more on how to help that team (or even just one person) fall in love with your mission, create an epic team culture and how to build out your dream together.

And even if you don’t have a business off the group yet, this episode is for you because it’s all about delegating so you can scale, even from the ground up!

  1. I share my hesitation about hiring (I get it, it’s SCARY giving up control!)

  2. AND THEN my husband and I went to Smart Success and came home & hired AN ARMY!

  3. I give you the reasons WHY you should hire (quality of life, systematizing your business, INCREASE TIME & EARNINGS!!)

  4. I give you IMPORTANT tips when starting this process (project based or trial hire at first)

  5. I give you the tools to know WHAT & WHO to look for when hiring

  6. Here’s a glimpse into MY TEAM (Systems Unicorn, Operations Director, Nanny, etc)

  7. AND HOW TO HIRE (what resources to use, referrals)

Like with most things, this is not just about WHAT you do. It’s about opening your mind to a new way of doing things. You’re in business, sister. And it’s time to invest in it the right way.

It can be intimidating or scary to bring someone else into your life, your business when you know the ropes and they don’t. But remember that you’re capping yourself and your potential, and the potential growth of what you can do and bring to the world by trying to be a one man show.

All of those truly successful (remember how we design success here at Scaling Up) business owners and the people you admire in entrepreneurship didn’t do it alone. They couldn’t get to where they are now without the team of people behind them. Sometimes as much as you may think that you are the only one that can advance things for yourself, really you’re the one holding yourself back.

Be sure to join me next week for Part II because we are breaking down what to do once you start delegating to ensure that you and they have the best possible experience and continue to grow in the process!

today’s freebie is perfect if you want some guidance on what to put together to share about what kind of position you’re hiring for!

I’m giving you my template that you can use as a guide to create your own hiring application to find the perfect person!
