Ep# 113: How To Know When + How To Scale Your Business

how to scale your business

Would it help you to figure out where you really stand in your business?

Are you in a place where you should just be focusing on what you’re already doing, or should you be putting energy towards creating a more scalable business?

Should you be pouring into the clients you already have, or should you be focusing on developing the funnels to bring in new clients?

Are you right where you should be, or are you leaving potential money on the table?

The goal of this episode is to paint a picture of what’s really possible in your business and in your life. I’m going to help you identify where you are today and where you want to go, and help you pinpoint what is going to be the bridge you need to go over to get there.

In this episode:

A lot of us get trapped in a perception that becomes our reality: we think “this is as good as it can get” OR “that’s great for them, but it’s not available to me.”

THE SCALING UP LIFE IS AVAILABLE TO YOU.

Reread that as many times as you need in order for it to really sink in.

Scaling Up is more than just a process, it’s rooted in principles and values. Here are the 10 principles of the Scaling Up life, defined. Are you living it?

Someone who embodies the Scaling Up Life...

...Lives the life they want to be living. They’re confident in the path they’re on and feel inspired by what they do, how they live and the impact they’re making on the world.

...Optimizes their vitality - their body, energy and overall health - so they’re operating at a peak state. This is a top priority in their life and a non-negotiable part of their daily routine because they know that this allows them to be their most energized, productive self.

...Is forever the student. Investing in perpetual growth is a fundamental principle of someone living the Scaling Up Life. They are seeking to learn and implement in all major areas of their lives and know that they’ve never fully “arrived”.

...Creates time freedom. In order to truly scale any area of life, they know they need the space to do it. That’s why those living this lifestyle have typically created a business or brand that allows for ample time freedom for rest, learning, relationships, health and creation.

...Steps into leadership. The Scaling Up Life requires the people living it to become the person they are called to be. This evolution calls for leadership. They embody this principle by studying and living what it means to be a leader.

...Is a visionary. They dream bigger than most people and can see life beyond what seems possible. They are continually coming up with new ideas and working to breathe life into them. They are the ones that change the world.

...Is a Maverick. They don’t operate by the world’s standards or by the expectations placed on them. They combat average and create their own playbook. They think differently and aren’t afraid to pave their own path. In the early stages, they are typically ridiculed for their unique approaches to life, but ultimately, they are revered for the way they rose above mediocrity and created a ripple effect in the world.

...Generates wealth. Those living the Scaling Up Life are on a path to create wealth, both financially and life-wealth. They use their skills, knowledge, creativity and experiences to monetize and grow their ideas into thriving businesses and brands. They don’t aim for money, they strive for an impact so deep that wealth follows it.

...Understands resilience. When they face a problem, they seek a solution. They are confident in their ability to figure things out. They know that failure, struggle and sacrifice are a part of scaling and don’t just get back up when they fall, but they look at those moments as data - valuable information that will allow them to grow beyond that point.

...Leverages Relationships. They surround themselves with other visionaries, maverick thinkers and people living the Scaling Up Life Principles. They know that in order to live their purpose, step into their greatness and to make the impact in the world that they’re called to make, they can never settle with being the smartest person in the room. They seek out and connect with other leaders and have enough humility to realize that - in part - they’re their best selves because of the light of others.
